Cultural interchange and diffusion of music and dance with guitar and plucked instruments among orchestras, formations, soloists from different countries
Diffusion of musical culture by means of chamber concerts in theatres, churches, culture centres  and performances of music song and dance in theatres and open air events.

Objectives:

1       To maintain cultural offer of Esmeralda in la Rioja through chamber concerts an performance of music and dance

2       To enable encounter and interchange among national and foreign soloists, groups and orchestras each other and with local players

3       To awake and maintain interest of young people for plucked instruments and guitar

4       To maintain alive popular musical tradition by helping local groups of folklore and dance.

Today’s shape and size of this festival is the result of experience, making continuous improvements to reach a larger audience and to obtain prestige and support to continue.

PARTICIPANTS / SELECTION / INVITATION

Through many contacts around the world, particularly in Russia (Yekaterinburg) orchestras and groups get information from  Esmeralda and present their candidatures

Selection of groups and artists is made following first artistic musical criteria, having in account other technical aspects such as limited capability of management and scarce available resources.

Selected groups get an invitation by Sociedad Musical de Pulso y Púa Esmeralda  and then starts the follow up, delivery of documents, fixing of dates etc. so that invited groups can arrange and finance their travelling costs. Meanwhile, the plan of concerts is made until the festival starts.

RESIDENCE / ACTIVITIES

Esmeralda arranges for accommodation and lodging (full board) of participants at a  student’s residence or similar in very favourable conditions for development of activities.

Invited artists may stay in Logroño from 3 to 15 days and the daily timetable is fixed by the times of meals, rehearsals, workshops and concerts. Other activities such as cultural visits, excursions, leisure (swimming pool) are also possible if there is spare time.

Conditions of participation:

In order to take part orchestras and musicians need to get an invitation by the Musical Society Emerald

Participants must arrange their trip to and from Logroño and be available during the time of their stay to play as many concerts as the organizers consider opportune.
